The Lumen imaging appliance is unique from other network DICOM devices. Its seamless integration into any analog environment and transparent operation make it easy for medical and technical staff alike. The device captures medical-quality images and video on-the-fly and transfers them to a network location or for integration into a DICOM study or PACS server. With the use of the small keyboard, users can capture and embed patient data.
The Lumen sits between any analog modality (scope, ultrasound, etc.) and monitor while video signal passes through. The signal is channeled into Firstlight's patented dual-stream capture system. Video can be displayed on a medical video monitor or standard computer CRT or flat-panel while capture is performed effortlessly via a foot pedal by the surgeon or technician.
Lumen is the only medical-grade system offering multi-stream, multi-delivery architecture and is UL approved to be used in conjunction with diagnostic equipment in proximity with the patient.
Lumen's architecture and innovative microprocessor design make it upgradeable as new features become standard.

The Lumen Imaging System creates digital records from analog modalities such as ultrasounds, endoscopes, fluoroscopes, and other video devices. The Lumen line of imaging appliances combines value, ease-of-use, and true DICOM-compatible format specifications, in an ultra-compact form-factor. Its wide range of uses and file types provides end-users with medical image flexibility while maintaining control through the intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI).

Below are some of the administration screens of the Lumen appliance. The FAST (Firstlight Appliance System Tool) screens are used only during setup; end-users and doctors need only to click a foot pedal to obtain high-quality stills and full-motion video. Implementation of this system requires users to follow the FAST setup, simply selecting the file types to be captures and designating where they are to be placed on the network.
